I spent last weekend in Las Vegas with my 16-year-old daughter, Brianna. It was the first fastpitch softball showcase tournament of the summer for her. She's been playing softball since she was 5 years old. And she's been competing seriously since she was 12. Her dream? To earn a college softball scholarship so she can play the game she loves while purusing her college education. She's been planning this dream for years, and she has taken all the right steps to make it a reality. Getting good grades. Playing for softball clubs that can get her into tournaments to be seen by softball scouts from all across the country. Getting extra help from batting and fielding coaches to improve her skills. And even learning how to market herself. Guess who she consulted on this last one?! :-)

You can apply the same steps to pursuing your dream of building a successful business. First, decide what YOUR dream is. Then determine what steps you need to take to get there. Then start taking consistent action on all those steps. Be persistent. Recognize you may need to expand your knowledge or skills. Don't be shy about getting that knowldge and training. The bottom-line is you have to be willing to believe in your dream and to do whatever it takes to get there. If you don't have that level of passion and commitment, success will probably elude you.

I've shared my daughter's dream. My dream? Turning 10stepmarketing into a business that helps thousands of solo-professionals all around the world learn how to be successful doing work they love.
